At Friends of Detroit Animal Care & Control (FoDACC), our commitment is clear—every penny you contribute goes directly to the animals we care for. Run entirely by volunteers, our organization ensures that your support is maximized to provide the best care and support to the animals in need.

We offer a variety of ways for you to make a positive impact, so you can choose the method that resonates with you the most. Your donations, in all their forms, make FoDACC's mission possible.

FoDACC is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions to Friends of DACC are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our tax identification number is 81-2386874.

How to Make Cash Donations

Your monetary support fuels our mission. Whether it's a one-time donation or a recurring contribution, your financial generosity directly translates into better care, medical attention, and a brighter future for the animals. Cash donations go toward caring for the animals in the shelter and transitioning them into their new lives with loving families, including:

  • Vaccinations

  • Spay/neuter

  • Other needed medical care, such as antibiotics and heartworm treatment

  • Microchips

  • Collar + leash + harness

  • Heartworm preventative

  • Flea & tick preventative

  • Training consultation

  • Food and treats

  • Toys and other enrichment

Sponsor an Adoptable Animal

When you sponsor a homeless animal through Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control, you give that animal a second chance in finding a loving home. Your donated funds will help to care for homeless animals while at the shelter and get them prepared for the home they need and deserve.

You can sponsor any of the adoptable animals at DACC! Your gift will go toward the animals in our care, ensuring they are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped. Dogs are given a collar + leash + harness, provided with a training consultation, and heartworm treatment as necessary. Choose to sponsor the entire package or a certain amount. In the “additional comments” of your donation simply enter the dog’s name or animal ID number.

In-Kind Donations

Have supplies, pet essentials, or equipment to spare? Your in-kind donations make a significant difference in enhancing the shelter's resources and ensuring the well-being of our animal residents.

Items can be dropped off at 1431 East Ferry St in Detroit between 10:30am and 3:30pm.

We accept in-kind donations of:

  • Plain blankets

  • Tied fleece blankets

  • Quilts

  • Hand and bath towels

  • Washcloths

  • Cotton or flannel flat

  • Small cat and dog beds sheets

  • Dog/puppy food

  • Cat/kitten food

  • Dog and cat treats

  • Cat toys

  • Dog crates

  • Cat carriers

  • 6-foot leashes

  • Feliway cat spray

  • Fresh News litter

  • KMR kitten milk replacement

For the safety of the animals, we cannot accept items with:

  • Frayed edges

  • Holes

  • Fringed items

  • Table clothes

  • Open weave or eyelet throws

  • Buttoned or adorned items

Wishlists

You can make a difference in the lives of our shelter dogs and cats by shopping from our Amazon and Chewy wishlists! These wishlists include essential items like food, toys, bedding, and supplies that help keep our furry friends happy and healthy as they wait for their forever homes.

  1. Create Your Fundraiser: Visit the Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control Facebook profile, click on “Fundraisers”, and then click “Raise Money.” Follow the prompts to set up your fundraiser.

  2. Tell Your Story: Personalize your fundraiser. Share why FoDACC's cause is close to your heart and how donations can create a positive change for animals.
